The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) believes Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) doesn’t have the power to influence her.
Saying she’s no longer in love with him is a powerful statement. Whether that’s true or if their spark can revive will soon be seen.
Cane knows that he still loves Lilly. As he’s told many, including her, the intended get-together at his estate in France was purposeful. His return to Genoa City, Wisconsin, the targeted real estate he’s purchased, including the GC Athletic Club, and moving his American train to this famous city is also intentional.
Keeping Holden Novak (Nathan Owens) on the payroll and ordering him to ingratiate himself with numerous people connected to the companies Cane intends to gobble up is also ominous.
In a clever diversion, Y&R’s writing staff skillfully introduced a regular player under the guise of being a side character. Instead of Damian becoming a prominent long-term member of GC Society, Holden might take that lead.
Cane Ashby Has No Genoa City Backer
Everyone is assuming that Colin Atkinson (Tristan Rogers) is dead. Why would a group of people who were just fooled badly by Cane take his word for it?
However, the return of Jess Walton (Jill Abbott) through video chat could be the plot vehicle that was meant to underscore Colin’s death as something that happened. Cane wouldn’t have much, if any, incentive to betray Jill’s trust by conspiring with his father to use her as a witness to an assumed death.
So, assuming Colin is gone, Cane has no backing other than Jill. That leaves him no one in GC to support his cause or offer in-person advice for the coming business war that, as Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) told Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), is going to get ugly.
Lily Winters Sides With Another Betrayer
Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) betrayed Lily when telling her she would head Chancellor, while knowing Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) was going to be handed that spot. So, why is Lily going along with Victor’s plan to con Cane?
Lily is seeking payback. She’s upset that Cane orchestrated such an elaborate ruse in France. Doing so created public humiliation, which she resents. More importantly, Damian and Chance Chancellor’s (Conner Floyd) murders happened.
The angle Lily is playing is strategic. She believes Victor’s offer meets her goals and has agreed not to dissuade Cane’s reconciliation efforts. That major risk is sure to create dramatic consequences in the coming weeks.
