Following some high-profile selfies of the castmates, the Friends stars are apparently in talks for a reunion special.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, all six of the main cast members — Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer — are in negotiations for an unscripted reunion special at HBO Max. In addition, creators Martha Kauffman and David Crane are also reportedly onboard.
Most of those involved in the original series have shot down the idea of a full-blown reboot, though Aniston recently hinted that “we’re working on something.”
Speaking to Ellen DeGeneres a few weeks ago, Aniston said, “We would love for there to be something, but we don’t know what that something is. So we’re just trying.”
So far, Warner Bros. has commemorated this year’s 25th anniversary of the beloved sitcom with Central Perk pop-up cafes, special screenings and merchandise collaborations.
HBO Max, a WarnerMedia-owned streaming service, is slated to debut in May 2020.
Earlier this year, it was confirmed that WarnerMedia had successfully outbid Netflix for exclusive streaming rights to the ten seasons of Friends, despite Netflix shelling out $100 million USD to keep the show on its service throughout 2019.
