Matthew Perry seen for first time in months following memoir release

Matthew Perry looked disheveled as he stepped out for the first time in months after releasing his tell-all memoir.

The “Friends” alum looked exhausted outside his Hidden Hills home after going for a Starbucks run in Los Angeles on Wednesday in new photos obtained by Page Six.

The 53-year-old actor was dressed casually in a gray Henley shirt and jeans and was growing out a scruffy beard as he oversaw furniture being delivered to his home. Perry seemed to be handling home renovations.

The “Whole Nine Yards” star was last seen out in public back in November when he made an appearance on the red carpet at the 2022 GQ Men Of The Year party at the West Hollywood Edition.

He looked much more together at the soirée, smiling for photos and looking cheerful while dressed in a black blazer layered over a gray T-shirt and round-framed eyeglasses.

Perry made headlines that same month after dropping his bombshell memoir, “Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing,” where he addressed his decades-long addiction to drugs and alcohol that nearly killed him.

The ’90s TV star recounted the horrifying experience when his colon burst from opioid overuse at the age of 49. At the time, his family was told he had a 2 percent chance of survival. He ended up spending two weeks in a coma and five months in the hospital and had to use a colostomy bag for nine months

Perry claimed that he spent about $9 million trying to sober up. Back in October, he didn’t clarify how long he’s been clean but said he’s taking things day by day.

“I’m pretty healthy now,” he told People, before joking, “I’ve got to not go to the gym much more, because I don’t want to only be able to play superheroes. But no, I’m a pretty healthy guy right now.”

He added, “It’s important, but if you lose your sobriety, it doesn’t mean you lose all that time and education. Your sober date changes, but that’s all that changes. You know everything you knew before, as long as you were able to fight your way back without dying, you learn a lot.”

The actor will be on Suboxone, a drug that treats opioid withdrawal, for the rest of his life. Unfortunately, the treatment has affected his ability to experience joy, leaving him “always a little bummed.”

“[Some] doctors tell me I’m not technically sober while I’m still on it. (It’s very difficult to get all the way off it either way, which is ironic because it’s a drug used to get you off other drugs),” he wrote.

Perry admitted that he didn’t think his former “Friends” co-stars — Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc — would be giving his book a read. Still, he dished on the ensemble and even admitted that he had a massive crush on Aniston, who had rejected him years before their show.
