Virgin River Fans Fear The Show Will Never Get A Season 7
Virgin River season 6 hasn’t even aired yet, and already some viewers are raising concerns that the show might not even “make it” to season 7.
For fans of the popular Netflix series Virgin River, the wait for new episodes has been excruciatingly long. The second half of season 5 stretched over the Christmas period, with the confirmed sixth season not even having a concrete release date yet.
Adapted from the beloved book series of the same name, the show appears to be taking only a few hints from the original storyline – but that doesn’t mean it’s leaving out many exciting story threads.
However, some fans are speculating that Virgin River might not even “make it” to season 7, despite a sixth installment that has yet to air.
Fans Don’t Think Virgin River Will Make It to Season 7
According to some Virgin River fans on Reddit, the show may never “make it” to Season 7 — even as Season 6 waits to air.
The series follows a nurse who moves from Los Angeles to a remote town in Northern California, and is surprised by what she finds there — including a companion, Jack Sheridan.
“Season 6 is about to start filming. I saw somewhere that it starts in early February, so that’s a month away,” Reddit user Doggo0729 posted in a thread. “I hope the writers took advantage of this long hiatus to study the books, examine the dynamic between Mel and Jack, hire new intimacy coordinators AND most importantly, I hope they took the time to read all the fan comments on all social media platforms regarding Season 5. I hope they listened to the fans and if what they previously wrote didn’t fit the direction the story was supposed to go, I hope they’re smart enough to fix it.”
The user continued, expressing his concern further: “Because the truth is, as much as I love this show, if the writers don’t get their act together, it’s not going to make it to Season 7. Fans all over the world have been disappointed, especially with the storylines. […] I hope they focus on Jack and Mel’s relationship and journey as a couple this season, and most importantly, I hope they stop making them act like an old couple. I’m so sick of them giving each other little kisses on the lips like little birds. If Jack isn’t pulling Mel’s hair AND they’re both out of breath, then I don’t want it!”
This isn’t the first time Mel and Jack’s relationship has come under scrutiny from fans, with Mel recently being called one of the show’s most “annoying” characters.
New plotlines for Virgin River season 6 have yet to be determined – though the cliffhangers at the end of Netflix’s fifth season have already given plenty of clues as to what viewers can expect.
