Virgin River’s Mel star begs fans to ‘calm down’ after controversial Brie and Brady remark
Virgin River’s Alexandra Breckenridge wasn’t too impressed by the way fans responded to her cheeky comment about Brie and Brady heading into season six. It comes after the Mel Monroe star said she would advise Brie Sheridan (Zibby Allen) not to get back together with Dan Brady (Ben Hollingsworth).
Addressing her 1.2 million followers in an Instagram following her comments made on the I Like You Very Much podcast, Alexandra stated: “I’ve already said this, so I don’t why people are still having a cow about it.
“In one of our podcast episodes, I said I’d tell Brie not to get back together with Brady,” she clarified. “But if you were just in the Virgin River world, and you didn’t know about anything else and you weren’t outside watching it as a TV show, you would give her the same advice.
“So can we just start from that perspective? Because that was the perspective I was given when I was asked the question.
“It was like, ‘What advice would you give this character as her friend?’ Maybe it wasn’t even as her friend,” she added. “It doesn’t matter.
“Now there’s a whole hullabaloo about it. I mean, everybody calm down. It’s just a TV show. It’s not real life,” she pleaded.
It comes after the latest episode of their podcast I Like You Very Much dropped a few days ago, with the actress saying: “Somebody had asked the question, if you could give advice to the other person’s character…
“Like, if I could give advice to Brie, or if she could give advice to Mel, what would it be? And I said, ‘Don’t get back together with Brady!’”
During the last season of Virgin River, Brie decided to end things when after confronting Brady about his involvement in the local drug trade, realising she didn’t trust him enough to continue the relationship.
Many Netflix viewers were left disappointed by the fan-favourite couple’s split, though others believed it to be for the best.
Brie later developed feelings for Mike Valenzuela (Marco Grazzini) while Brady struck up a new romance with Lark (Elise Gatien).

While both parties found new romance on the show, the separation still appears to be a sore spot for some fans.
