CBS has officially confirmed Blue Bloods will return for another season following the law-abiding Reagan family.
As Blue Bloods draws closer to its season 13 finale, CBS has revealed the long-running procedural will return to screens for another season. Fans can now sigh in relief after many grew concerned Blue Bloods would join the growing list of cancelled dramas.
The cop drama made major waves when it first premiered in 2010, with Tom Selleck leading the star-studded cast as the no-nonsense patriarch, Frank Reagan.
With Frank and his three adult children working in law enforcement, fans were enthralled by the many cases the family would investigate.
However, with season 13 coming to an end on Friday, May 19, viewers grew concerned about the future of Blue Bloods.
Thankfully for fans, Tom, Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan and Will Estes will return for an action-packed season 14.
In a statement, the President of CBS Entertainment, Amy Reisenbach shared: “Blue Bloods has dominated Friday nights since its premiere and remained an important anchor for CBS’ winning lineup.
“Led by the outstanding Tom Selleck, and an incredible cast and creative team, viewers continue to embrace the Reagan’s, their law enforcement family, and the series’ dramatic storytelling.
“We can’t wait to pull a chair up to the Reagan family dinner table for another fantastic season.”
The excitement was also echoed by Danny Reagan star Donnie Wahlberg, who took to Instagram to share the news with his 1.7million followers.
The actor posted a clip of the announcement video, captioned: “Season 14 here we come! Can’t wait! #BlueBloods @bluebloods_cbs @cbstv”
This sparked a major fan frenzy as viewers stormed to his comments with praise and appreciation.
A grateful @blueuniform19 wrote: “Congratulations. A big thank you to everybody that made this possible.”
@iwax18 added: “Can’t wait for more dinners with my favorite family!.”
A third fan @nana_maryc shared: “Congratulations to you, all the phenomenal cast members, writers, everyone involved in making this show #BlueBloods forever!!!”
A thrilled @emailmikewright commented: “Absolutely best show on TV !!!!!”
The fan excitement also spilt over to Twitter where thousands shared their anticipation and elation.
This included @bigg_poohbear who tweeted: “Well, “THANK YOU” @CBS for FINALLY giving me this update. This took way too long, but I am VERY HAPPY!!”
While a relieved @NicoleWC78 stated: “Definitely wasn’t ready to lose family dinner just yet.”
According to Deadline the cast and producers reportedly agreed to a salary reduction in order to keep the show going.
This was, allegedly, to ensure the costs were spread out evenly among the hundreds of crew members.
