Blue Bloods Series Ending Could Finally Include A Long-Awaited Scene

The series finale of Blue Bloods may feature one long-awaited scene. Blue Bloods season 14 will return with its finale episodes in just a matter of weeks. And though the show’s closing stretch will introduce new faces, played by familiar actors, much of the ramp-up to the police procedural’s farewell is focused on the CBS show providing a satisfying farewell for audiences.

TVLine adds to that anticipation, revealing that the four Reagan cousins will finally appear in a scene together. This is notable considering that Joe Hill (played by Will Hochman), who is the son of Joseph Reagan, has never shared a scene with Erin’s daughter Nicky (Sami Gayle) or Danny’s son Jack (Tony Terraciano). Joe Hill has, however, shared a scene with Danny’s son Sean (played by Andrew Terraciano).

Ahead of the return of Blue Bloods season 14, which premieres on CBS on Friday, October 18 at 10 PM ET, showrunner and executive producer Kevin Wade reveals that Joe Hill will return, as will Nicky, Jack, and Sean. Wade did not share whether this would lead to the cousins appearing on-screen but teases that the question “will be answered in the final episode” that airs in December.

What The Potential Reagan Family Reunion Says About Blue Bloods
The Show Is Eager To Please

Blue Bloods is coming to an end, largely because of the high costs associated with a long-running series. But the news of the show’s end was delivered with enough time for the writers to craft a finale that honors the procedural’s long run. In one sense, that means continuing the show as normal and bringing in new faces to clash with and call out the sometimes intimidating Reagan family.

But part of saying goodbye also means honoring what the series has become, away from the regular ongoing nature of the weekly storylines. Part of that is honoring the relatively new character of Joe Hill, though his dead father goes all the way back to the show’s earliest episodes. It means, as well, honoring the tradition of Reagan family dinners that have been a constant and will likely feature heavily in these concluding episodes.

Although there have been mentions of a Blue Bloods spinoff from the co-CEO of Paramount, which owns CBS, there hasn’t been any new information on that front. The focus for now looks to be to celebrate the success of the original series. Wade, in his role as showrunner, along with the cast and crew, and the team of writers, have put the pieces in place for a fitting send-off.

Our Take On The Reagan Family Reunion
It Helps To Have Time To Say Goodbye

While it will be sad for audiences to say goodbye to Blue Bloods, given the circumstances, but the continued news and teases indicate that by having a little extra notice to craft a great ending, the CBS stalwart is wholeheartedly the things that have made it a fan-favorite. It’s going out, as best as it can, with a bang.
