Tom Selleck Reflects on Life After Blue Bloods and Hints at Jesse Stone Revival

Tom Selleck has played Frank Reagan on Blue Bloods since the show began in 2010, but with the police drama coming to an end after season 14, he’s been thinking about the future

Tom Selleck, the face of ‘Blue Bloods’, has been pondering what’s next as the beloved CBS police show approaches its curtain call. The actor, renowned for his role in ‘Magnum PI’, has given life to Frank Reagan, head of a cop family, for all 14 seasons of the hugely successful series.

Fans were heartstruck by the news that the show’s pending season, set to be released later this month, would be its final. Yet Tom isn’t hanging up his acting boots just yet, even after wrapping up the last eight episodes of ‘Blue Bloods’.

Hinting at a screen comeback, he’s flirted with the idea of reviving a cherished role pre-dating his stint as Frank – and nope, it’s not Thomas Magnum, reports the Express.

Tom starred in a total of nine made-for-television movies based on Robert B. Parker’s bestselling novels about the unsung hero of Paradise, Massachusetts.

Not only did he star, but Tom also put pen to paper on several installments in the franchise and bagged an Emmy nomination for ‘Jesse Stone: Sea Change’ back in 2007, proving the project holds a special place in his repertoire.

He’s confirmed that he’s mulling over a return to the Jesse Stone saga, conceding recently, “It looks like now I might have to write [the script].” He told TV Insider” “It wouldn’t be a final one because everybody loves it. Jesse is a great character, and it would be fascinating to find out where he is quite a few years later.”

Selleck, 79, has no current ventures lined up but insists he won’t be taking his foot off the pedal anytime soon. “I need to regroup [after Blue Bloods],” he expressed. “I don’t know what’s next, but assuming the phone doesn’t stop ringing I’m going to keep working.”

With an iconic 14-year run on Blue Bloods under his belt, Tom remains one of telly’s beloved faces. His legions of fans are bound to be keen for his return once the Reagans wrap up their last Friday supper.

The latest series, season 14 part two, is set to premiere shortly, with anticipation running high for its conclusion before we reach the end of 2024.
