Will BLUE BLOODS’ Danny Reagan Spark a New Romantic Relationship?

As BLUE BLOODS heads into its final season, it’s not just the fans who are hoping that Detective Danny Reagan finds a new significant other before the show ends.

Seven years have gone by since Danny’s wife, Linda, tragically died. While Linda was a beloved character, as the show comes to a close, fans want to know that Danny will be happy in the future. Having worked closely with his partner, Detective Maria Baez, since 2013, some think it’s time for the two to get together.

A fan of the show took to X after a recent episode to comment on the two’s relationship.

“Ohhh Danny Reagan doesn’t look too impressed with Baez heading out for a drink,” the fan posted.

Donnie Wahlberg—who plays Danny on the show—agreed, responding, “He is not pleased.”

While Walberg’s comment hints toward Danny’s feelings for Baez, his character on the show is dropping hints too. In a recent episode, Danny was taunted by a serial killer he was interrogating who asked him, ‘Have you ever fantasized about your partner Baez? Or, your old partner [Jackie Curatola]? You seem to have a lot of chemistry with her too.’”

“You were right. I don’t want to start a relationship with my partner, because I don’t want anyone that I love to ever be put in danger again,” Danny said later in the episode.

The commitment from fans is unsurprising, given the show’s enduring popularity. The series regularly draws over 9 million concurrent viewers. While the story still has more to give and the actors want to continue the show, CBS pulled the plug due to costs, ending the show at season 14.

The season has been split into two, with 10 episodes airing this spring before the final eight episodes air this fall.

However, a fan-led movement is hoping to keep the show going.

X account, @SaveBlueBloods, “urges fans every week to tweet about the series to get it trending while new episodes air on Fridays, and it often tweets about the show’s ratings to keep the word out about how popular the show is among viewers,” TV Insider reported. It remains to be seen if their efforts will pay off.

Movieguide® previously reported on the cancellation:

BLUE BLOODS will be coming to an end with the upcoming 14th season of the popular police drama.

“BLUE BLOODS will forever be a beloved part of CBS’s legacy,” said Amy Reisenbach, the president of CBS Entertainment, and David Stapf, president of CBS Studios, in a joint statement. “It ruled Friday nights with unprecedented dominance since its premiere and established itself as a pillar of our winning lineup with an exceptionally devoted fan base.”

Star Tom Selleck also released a statement, saying, “For the past 13 years it has been an honor and a privilege to work on a show that not only celebrates the men and women who protect and serve in New York City, but also displayed the importance of family.”
